Jeffrey Dane

Contributing Writer:

Jeffrey Dane hails from New York City. He has two primary interests: the history, literature and materials of music (with a focus on the 19th century), and the history, literature, and materials of the American West (with a focus on 1830s Texas). He researches and writes with equal gusto about both. His favorite city in Europe is Vienna, Austria. His favorite city in the USA is San Antonio de Bexar; his favorite place in Bexar is the Alamo; and his personal favorites among places at the Alamo are the DRT library, and the perch.

Sarah Martin infront of the Alamo.

Contributing Writer:

Sarah Martin is a junior in high school in Arlington, Texas. She’s a native Virginian, but considers herself to be a Texan at heart. She has been in love with Texas, it’s history, and the Alamo since March of ‘06. Her current focus concerning the Alamo, however, is William Barret Travis: her favorite of the holy trinity. Sarah is also very fond of cats, Japanese culture (and language), westerns, astrology, drawing, writing, and socializing with friends. Sarah is a member of The Alamo Society.

Contributing Writer:

Michelle Elizabeth Herbelin is a homeschooled high school student, who lives in Waco, Texas. Her interest in Texas history centers on the Alamo, the Goliad Campaign (she’s Colonel Fannin’s Biggest Fan), and Stephen F. Austin. Michelle is a prodigious poet and capable research writer. She has twice taken research papers to state level in the National History Day competition, also receiving special awards including the Thomas Ricks Lindley Memorial Award, the Descendants of Austin’s Old Three Hundred Award, and the C.M. Caldwell Memorial Award. Her other hobbies include knitting, singing Celtic and classical music, constitutional law, and genealogy. She describes her sense of style as “history-geek chic.” Michelle is a member of the Alamo Society, member-at-large of the Junior Historians of Texas, and a Corporal in the Greater Waco Young Marines.

Dale K.

Correspondent:

Dale currently lives in Austin, Tejas, and works in Texas’ Homeland Security program, but he grew up in San Antonio. One of his favorite summer jobs was at the Alamo for a now defunct business called the “Remember the Alamo Theater and Museum” which for its time was quite cutting edge. In 2003, Dale fulfilled a long time dream when he became a background extra in the latest Alamo movie released in 2004. Even though he shows up on screen for only 4.5 seconds, the memories and friends he made from the experience will last forever. In the guise of Valerojoe, Dale is a member of both thealamofilm.com and Alamo Sentry.
